What's Your Favorite Childhood Cartoon?

My absolute favorite cartoon as a kid was The Jetsons. By the time I was a kid The Jetsons were already off the air and the shows I was watching were reruns. I loved that show because I wanted to live in the future. I wanted a car that flew and an apartment with a conveyor belt just like they had at the airport. Instead of eating dinner and sitting around a table they swallowed pills. The elevator was really one of those tubes like they used at the drive up bank. Astro, the family dog, cracked me up with the way he spoke. "I ruv you Rorge." Slurp! But I never understood George's job and even as an adult it still makes no sense. George's job was pushing a button. Now isn't that a great job with no stress? Oddly enough George had his share of stress from Mr. Spacely. He was always getting yelled at through the huge screen in his office. Yelled at to get to Mr. Spacely's office so he could ask George to do some daunting task that no one wanted. I love The Jetsons so much that when I get a text message on my Blackberry it plays The Jetsons doorbell.

Then there are the old stand by's like Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck. Bugs was always escaping Elmer Fudd and when he wasn't doing that he was picking on poor Daffy. I loved watching Wile E. Coyote chase the Road Runner all over the desert. Although I wondered why he didn't just give up and chase something else. The looks on his face when he fell and how he turned into an accordion when he got up always gave me a laugh. Porky Pig and Foghorn Leghorn come to mind, but I didn't care for them too much.

Inquiring minds want to know what your favorite cartoon was when you were a kid?

OH!! The Jetsons!! Yeah, I love them too! I remember watching this cartoon when I was little, and pretending I could fly around the house. Gosh, I'm envious at the vehicle they're using! I watched Flingstones, Transformers, Alvin & The Chipmunks, scooby doo, pink panther, hard to pick my favourite.. err.. I'm gonna go with Bugs Bunny & Friends, including the coyote, road runner, tweety, sylvester etc. I'm greedy, sorry. ha..

I was into the Flintstones. I just loved them, especially Dino and the kids lol. Fred always had a laugh for me and Barney was just the perfect neighbor / friend. The hospitality of Betty and Wilma was always welcoming. I wouldn't mind paying a visit to Bedrock this morning on my TV Land TV Time.

There is something fantastic about the Jetsons view of the future, the real future will be boring, I want...DEMAND flying cars and domed buidlings :-)

My fav cartoon was 'dreamstone' the music was simply beautifully orchestrated

This is the sort of question that dates a person. I hate being at church when everyone starts discussing something like 'Saved By the Bell' and the younger crowd goes... "What's that?"

Ugh.

Anyway, my favorite show as a child was 'The Little's' Remember them? They were the tiny mice like people who lived in the house and the boy took care of them.

I loved that show! I always wanted to be super tiny... I suppose I thought it would be exciting.

Lol, no way I loved the Jetsons, cool. But my fav was a show called Johnny Quest, but the best of best not really a cartoon, a dummy show called Fireball XL5, do you remember that one?

@Cannwinn - I completely forgot about The Littles. I liked that show too. I didn't want to be a Little, I wanted one as my friend I could take around in my pocket.

@Bob Johnson - I do remember a show called Johnny Quest, but Fireball XL5 does not ring a bell.

That's a hard question! I think my favorite was The Smurfs... I also liked The Loony Toons, Scooby Doo, and The Thundercats. :)

That's a really tough one with so many great shows to choose from. Smurfs was pretty great though.

Cartoons I love when I was a kid? Spiderman, Batman, Smurfs, Pink Panther and of course the Flintstones! I also like that Penelope (what with that pet of hers - always giggling) who's always escaping from her enemies.

Are you kidding me?? My text alert is the Jetson's doorbell too. That is so funny.

I used to watch the Jetsons and the Flinstones. There aren't really any others jumping out in my head. Hmm.

but do you ever re-watch those old cartoons and ask, what was I thinking? I have! With Thundercats and Dungeons and Dragons. They seemed so cool when I was a kid . . . but watching them as an adult. Wow. They really sucked ;)

Jem! Truly outrageous! Truly, truly, truly outrageous! The writers of that theme song were really working hard!

BTW, found you through AW. Good luck on NaNo!

I loved the Jetsons, too! I was actually just having this conversation two nights ago about all the different cartoons I watched as a kid. I loved the classics....Bugs Bunny, Jetsons, Smurfs, Snorks....so many to name!

I liked Thundercats. You can't beat a cartoon about a bunch of kitten people. It was one of the few cartoons where I had the accompanying toy... I had a light-up sword, like Liono's.

Oscar's orchestra! It was a really small cartoon (only one season I think) but I've always been into classical music, and this was my favourite. Also Toucan Tecs was good fun, always watched that one when I was ill
