My very good friend is a lefty and she has given me some great insight into the world of southpaws. Did you know that pens and pencils are even designed for the right-handed world? They are. Go get a pen or pencil. I'll wait. Take that pen or pencil and put it in your right hand, as if you were going to write, so you can read the name brand. No problem, right? You can easily read it. Now take the pen or pencil and place it in your left hand so you can see the brand name. Not so easy to read the name now is it?! We all know one of the most obvious pet peeves of any left-handed person. The old school desk. Those puppies were, without a doubt, made with the right-handed person in mind. Little things like putting a knife back into the block make all the difference for left-handed people. At my left-handed friends house the blade of the knives face left. Go on. I'll wait while you jump up and check yours.
My friend, unlike some left-handed people, writes like a right-handed person. She doesn't turn her arm into a contorted shape when she writes. You've seen lefties write. Their arm practically covers the entire paper and they are almost writing upside down. My friend says left-handed people do this so they don't get ink on the side of their hand. In fact I've seen someone literally write upside down. This woman came into my office one day with an application and I noticed she forgot to write something down so I scooted the paper across my desk, upside down, and when she got it she turned the application around and started writing the most beautiful handwriting you ever saw. I was astounded! The application was facing me and there she was writing on it. Upside down!

I am enlighten by your post! Really, I never really thought about left-handed that way, not to mention about the branding of the pen. Amazing! Great observer! ha.. Then I must congratulate you for being one of the minors. Surely is great to be special! Well, you have great writing skills. Keep it up! Looking forward to more of your writings..
My husband is left handed. I don't know if it's a lefty thing, but he writes in all caps because he says it makes his writing look neater. the only thing that I notice that we really have to "watch out for" is when we have to sit side by side to eat dinner we have to make sure he's on the end on the left side so he doesn't bump elbows with me or anyone else. Great post! I didn't realize how many famous people were lefties!

My mother is the fourth of seven children. All but the seventh are left handed. I am left handed and my ex-wife is, too. One of our two sons is left handed. Several cousins...
I used to work with a woman who was punished in grade school for writing with her left hand. I have never understood why anyone would have a problem with that. Who cares what hand a person uses? Why be biased against the left hand? It's just so completely illogical.
Your mother did you a favor, even if it was for the wrong reason. (Assuming it didn't make you stutter.) The world is designed for white, male, right handers. Sigh! I guess two out of three isn't so bad.
Hey my wife is a lefty, she does a lot of crafts, had to buy left handed sissors, at least they sell them now.
Haham I'm a lefty, and I don't think I write upside down, or do I?
And yea left handed scissors are so much easier to use for me, I don't really understand why, but they're awesome.
My ex-tutor is lefthanded. And for most people I know who are, all of them are DAMN SMART! May be I should start writing a little with my left hand! :D
